With effect from week commencing 14th November 2016 we will be changing the opening hours at our Aberbeeg branch to the following:
Monday 09:00 - 17:00
Tuesday 09:00 - 13:00
Wednesday 09:00 - 17:00
Thursday 09:00 - 13:00
Friday 09:00 - 13:00
We are not reducing our number of appointments offered to the whole practice but will simply be relocating these clinics to our main site in Abertillery which will maintain its current opening hours.
By ringing on 01495 360669 your call will automatically be diverted to the main site when the branch site is closed.
Mrs Jan Thomas is our Advanced Nurse Practitioner and is highly skilled and experienced to deal with many problems which you would usually expect to see a GP regarding. She is a qualified prescriber and can refer you appropriately for investigations or specialist opinion. If you are unsure if it would be suitable for you to see her please ask a member of staff who can guide you.
The practice nurses can be seen by appointment and offer a range of services including cervical smears, dressings, ear syringing, blood pressure checks, chronic disease management, immunisations & vaccinations, family planning and contraception.
The healthcare assistants offer ECG, blood tests, blood pressure checks, lifestyle advice, chronic disease management and new patient checks.
Mr Joe Moreno is the practice manager and is involved in managing all of the business aspects of the practice such as making sure that the right systems are in place to provide a high quality of patient care, human resources, finance, patient safety, premises and equipment and information technology. The practice manager supports the GPs and other medical professionals with delivering patient services and also helps to develop extended services to enhance patient care.
Miss Rhiann Mainwaring is the Assistant Practice Manager and supports the Practice Manager in managing the business aspects of the practice.
Receptionists provide an important link for patients with the practice and are your initial contact point for general enquiries. They can provide basic information on services and results and direct you to the right person depending on your health issue or query. Receptionists make most of the patient appointments with the GPs and nurses. They also perform other important tasks such as issuing repeat prescriptions and dealing with prescription enquiries, dealing with financial claims, dealing with patient records and carrying out searches and practice audits.
Sharon is our very skilled Practice Pharmacist and also an independent prescriber. Sharon handles the majority of patient based medication queries and has weekly medication reviews which can be booked through our reception team.
The midwife offers weekly clinics at Abertillery Group Practice on Thursday 09:30 – 12:30 and provides care for you and your baby during pregnancy, delivery and 10 days after. You can contact the midwifery service on 01495 363308.
The nurses will visit patients who are housebound or patients that have recently been discharged from hospital. You can contact the district nurse service on 01495 325409.
The health visitor provides help and support for parents with children of pre-school age. A Child Health Clinic runs every week, Wednesday 09.30 -11.30,on the first floor of The Bridge Centre, offering immunisations, weighing and health checks. You can contact the health visitors on 01495 353028.
Weekly clinics are held to discuss various problems such as bereavement, depression and anxiety. If you feel you would benefit from seeing a counsellor speak to a GP or Nurse Practitioner who can refer you.
